But, first…

The first thing you need to do before you start going after any traffic is keyword research. This is because you will building your traffic funnels around specific keywords. Which means you need to put some thought into the keywords you’re targeting.

A couple things to keep in mind when doing keyword research:

• Are the keywords you’re interested in attainable? You’ll have to analyze the competition and see what’s out there for this.
• Will the keywords you’re targeting bring buyers? Some keywords will bring lots of traffic, but none of them will buy. This is not what you’re looking for.
• What about affiliates? Generating your own customers is great – having other people do it for you is even better. So make sure you are also targeting keywords to attract affiliates.

Of course, this all takes time if you plan to do it yourself. Experts are expensive and don’t guarantee results. The upside is that these two factors keep most everyone from even doing their keyword research. What I recommend is using website traffic software to save the time of doing it yourself and the money of hiring someone else. Using tools like this speed up the process and improve your results, too!

Once you know your keywords…

Now that you’ve completed your keyword research, you can begin using these keywords to get traffic to your website.

Here are a couple of clever ways to do this…

Surveys

The truth is that people really enjoy taking surveys and finding out what other people think. And if you make it interesting, other people will post your survey on their website. They benefit by getting free content for their site and you get a link to your site under the survey. The beauty of this is that it generates website visitors for you with no work on your part. Using just this one extra idea will put you ahead of your competition . . . who think surveys are for gathering information! The only thing you have to do is think of a novel question for your survey.

“Traffic Traps”

Maybe you’ve seen these help sites where people post questions and other people answer them. Once again, the main reason for this site is not the reason you’re interested. The other thing they can be used for is to get traffic to your site, leads for your business and sales! One thing you can do is to visit sites like Craigslist and Yahoo! Answers and manually extract contact info to contact other users. But a much smarter method is to use website traffic software to do it for you. This allows you to do the things in your business that can’t be automated and let the software just give you the leads.

Video Websites

Another great resource is video sharing sites like YouTube. In fact, YouTube has over 2 billion videos watched per day! If you’re not taking advantage of this rich source of website traffic, then you are really missing out.

And don’t worry if you don’t have any idea of how to make a video. You can even take a webpage or article that you’ve written. Then simply record yourself reading the text and you video the screen with a simple screen capture program. And like anything else, there is software available that will turn articles into videos for you automatically.

It’s not that hard to get traffic to your websites. Use your noodle and come up with things other people aren’t doing. You can even use software to automate most of what we’ve talked about.

Affiliate marketing is by far the fastest way to get started making money online. What “affiliate marketing” means is that you just refer visitors to someone else’s website, they handle the sales, support and billing, and you keep 50% or more of the sales

Here’s just a few benefits

1. You’re able to start right now without having to develop a product, set up a website and sales page, develop the website, create marketing materials, or set up the ordering, billing & delivery system.
2. It’s completely hands-freefor you because they handle the billing, support, maintenance, etc.
3. Your efforts are risk-free, because the product owner has already made sure the product sells. So if you send visitors you will get paid.

Obviously affiliate marketing makes sense – these benefits make it a clear winner!

OK, but it’s not all rosy…

You work hard to send the traffic to the product owner’s website, but once you do that you will never see those visitors again. Less than 10% of the visitors your send will actually buy the product. And of the 10% or less that do buy, the product owner will be able to sell to them again, but you will not.

Simply put, you need to capture the name and email of your visitors *before* sending them to the product sales page. By getting their contact info, you can follow up increase your odds of making the sale by sending them back to the product owner’s website multiple times. And if you want to do it like a pro, you’ll give them some great content before sending them to the sales page.

Here’s what these affiliate marketing strategies will do for you:

1. By building your own list, you’re creating a renewable resource that you can tap again and again for instant profits.
2. You’re generating good will by giving them high-quality content. This way, they are much more likely to make a purchase when you send them to the sales page.

Here’s what you’ll need to create affiliate tools like this:

1. A Video Squeeze Page (with video)
2. Several high-quality content pages
3. An email series with at least 5 high-quality content emails

The video squeeze page is where you’ll direct your traffic instead of directly to the product sales page. It captures the name and email of your visitors and puts them into your autoresponder, which then begins sending out the 5-part email series. Once your visitors have been subscribed to your email series, they are sent to your content pages.

These high-quality content pages provide value and build good will. This way your visitor is more likely to buy when they get to the product owner’s website. And even if they don’t buy on the first visit, your email series sends them back to the product sales page again and again to increase your sales.

Putting all of these pieces together will increase your sales by 500% or more, so it’s obviously worth the time and energy to do it. And after you get it all set up, it runs on total auto-pilot. You just refer people to your lead capture page, instead of the product sales page.

If you don’t have the time or expertise to set it all up yourself, you can use something like Affiliate Silver Bullet. With a service like that, you don’t have to do anything. They make the video, build the squeeze page, write the email series, develop the content mini-site, etc. And then just give you a finished package. The major benefit of using a service like this is that you can get started right away, and for a whole lot less than it would cost to do it all yourself. The drawback is that you won’t be the only one using these affiliate tools. But the internet is huge, so this shouldn’t really affect you.

The other route you can take is to hire people on Elance to create and implement the various aspects for you. Either way, it’s an important step that you need to take if you’re going to be serious about your affiliate marketing.

By exerting some control over the content of the websites that are earning an income from placing Google ads on the sites, Google is also ensuring that the search results that they are returning when a word, term, or phrase is searched are the most valid search results available. Websites that are filled with non-words and spammed search terms are a frustrating problem for the search engines and the latest Google slap is an effort to fix the problem. When working with Google, you can make a nice income, as long as you are not trying to trick the system.

Some of the things Google doesn’t want to see on a landing page is a page with exit pops, pop ups that block content, a blatant sales page or even a page that makes no sense and is loaded with keyword spam.

What the heck? I am an Internet Marketer after all

I spent a day and a half going through the tutorials and decided I was ready. I chose a product from Clickbank and ran the software for keywords. I chose a Domain name based on those results.

I chose forgotten11laws.net

I followed the tutorials and set up my site. Within 4 days my website was number 11 on the Google natural search results out of over 36,000,000 sites.

I just ran one of my keyword search terms the forgotten 11 laws and found my site was number 6 out of 44,000,000 sites.

I registered that domain on Jan 10th, 2011

I have already made 1 sale which has allowed me to break even for the cost of the program and the domain name. The system is now set so I never have to touch it again. I am getting 8-10 new subscribers every day without advertising.
